How dry is your lumber?

Most of our lumber is dried to a moisture content of approximately 20% before it leaves the mill. Lumber is a natural product and its moisture content can increase and decrease according to relative humidity. Think about the doors in your home that stick when it is humid. Some of our Douglas Fir and Cedar is not dried at the mill.

Will my lumber stay straight?

The tendency of lumber to stay straight depends upon the tree from which it was taken and which part of that tree—much more than its moisture content. The vast temperature swings we experience in the high desert also play a role. We recommend that all lumber be installed, or used, as soon as possible to avoid and complications.
